Next Time

FAQ

Questions people ask.

What is Next Time?

An iOS app for the things you keep meaning to tell, ask, bring, or remember about the people in your life. You write a note, attach it to one person, and it waits there until the next time you see them.

How is it different from a notes app or a reminders app?

Everything is organised by person, not by date or folder. A reminder wants to know when. Next Time only wants to know who. So a note can sit there for months without nagging you, and then all of it is waiting in one place at the moment you actually see them.

What are the five kinds of note?

Tell is a story or a piece of news to share. Ask is the question you keep forgetting. Bring is the physical thing to hand over. Remember is anything else worth keeping in mind.

About is different: a dated fact about the person rather than something to do. Her coffee order. The allergy. The name of the new dog. About entries pile up into a running record of who someone is.

Where are my notes stored?

On your device, and in your own private iCloud database, which syncs across the devices signed in to your Apple Account. There is no Next Time server holding your data. The developer cannot read your notes, and that's a property of how the app is built rather than a promise in a document. The privacy policy spells out the details.

Do I need an account?

No. No sign-up, no email address, no password. Open the app and start writing.

Is Next Time free?

Yes, up to three people and twenty active notes. Next Time Pro lifts both limits and adds features such as note tags and filtering by tag. You can buy it monthly, yearly, or once as a lifetime purchase. Current prices show in the app and on the App Store.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad, on iOS 26 or later. On a full-width iPad the layout opens into a two-page spread, with the list on the left and whatever you selected on the right. There's no Android version.

Can I use Siri?

Yes. Ask Siri to add a note to Next Time and it gets captured without you unlocking anything or hunting for the app.

Can I stop other people reading my notes?

Yes. Lock the app behind Face ID or your passcode under Settings, App privacy. Reminder notifications also default to hiding what the note says on the lock screen, and you can choose how much they show.

What happens when I mark a note done?

It moves into that person's archive and stays there permanently unless you delete it. Nothing gets purged on a timer, so the archive quietly becomes a record of what you did get around to.

Can I export my data?

Not yet. Export and import are planned but not built. Your notes sit in your own iCloud in the meantime, and you can delete every one of them from inside the app whenever you want.

Is there a widget or an Apple Watch app?

Not yet, and both are on the list. The data layer was built as a separate package from the first day precisely so they can be added later without a rewrite.

How do I delete everything?

Settings, Privacy, Delete all data. It clears the iCloud copy first and the copy on your device second, so nothing quietly syncs back afterwards.

Something is broken, or I have an idea.

Write to hello@thenexttime.app. It's one person reading that inbox, and feature requests genuinely do change what gets built next.
